None of these recipes are intended for those living in grinding poverty but for those trying to keep up a nice middle class appearance. Yes, father has to work long hours and mother has to cook this nasty looking food but we live in a nice house, in a good neighborhood that has a good school and nobody has to know that our family is one disaster away from bankruptcy.
